Brigadier General John Webb

Born on May 7, 1793, John Webb's family moved to Ohio and settled in Lost Creek Township in 1797. Educated by his mother in a log cabin, Webb became the first teacher in the Lost Creek region in 1809. During the War of 1812, he volunteered as a soldier and served the Army at Greenville and in the Ohio Militia. In 1815, he married Priscilla Knight and raised eleven children with her. John Webb died September 19, 1883 and is buried in Lost Creek Cemetery.
